The Invictus Model

The Invictus Model is our custom method for delivering EMDR virtually. While staying true to the traditional EMDR structure and ensuring treatment fidelity, The Invictus Model guides clients seamlessly through each phase of EMDR using original content, worksheets, reading materials, and interactive activities. The Model is the result of over a decade of training, experience and expertise.

Structured Flexibility

Have you spent years honing your coping skills? Already fluent in the stress response? Want to spend extra time focused on the neuroscience of trauma? The Invictus Model offers ultimate flexibility and personalization, knowing that each client arrives with their own knowledge, experiences and needs. Instead of a strict timeline, the Model uses themes to provide structure, ensuring that all clients obtain the skills they need without feeling either rushed or stagnant.

A peek at The Invictus Model. Each theme correlates to one of the eight phases of EMDR and imparts essential skills and knowledge. Themes build on one another, creating a loose curriculum-like structure.

Comprehensive + Custom

The Invictus model offers a unique, comprehensive experience that is not found anywhere else. Clients can expect psychoeducation, skill building, reading materials, homework and more, delivered in a personalized and easy to use format. Each week, clients will leave sessions with new knowledge and the support they need to integrate that knowledge into their daily lives.

Here are just a few of the engaging, custom graphics and worksheets that clients receive as part of the Invictus Model. You can expect engaging illustrations, comprehensive walk-throughs, and information that builds upon itself from week to week.

Treatment Fidelity

For an evidence-based modality like EMDR to be used safely and effectively, the therapist implementing it must stay true to the model as it has been used in research. This is called treatment fidelity. Invictus EMDR takes this requirement very seriously, and the Program has complete treatment fidelity to Francine Shapiro's original EMDR model as taught by the EMDR International Association (EMDRIA). Founded by Shapiro herself, EMDRIA sets the highest standards for practitioner training, and Carisa is a Full Member.

EMDRIA is the most prominent and well respected training and certifying body for EMDR. Learn more about EMDRIA and their rigorous training standards here.
